Ekam is a Sanskrit word which means 'Universal Oneness'. Ekam Yoga Center was started in 2009 by Maggie Grueskin, with a vision of bringing together various styles of yoga under one roof, and offering top-quality yoga and wellness classes to service the community. Our mission is to create a total body wellness center, which brings people together for yoga, health, community and green-living.

Green Studio

As Houston's first Green Studio, we embrace the benefits of building green and living green.
Yoga teaches us to bring greater unity of mind, body and spirit, in all aspects of daily living, from the foods we eat, to the clothes we wear and the way we build our homes and work-spaces. Yoga for Beginners
This is our Beginner's Yoga School Series - if you are new to yoga, or are seeking a more structured approach to learning yoga poses, then this class is for you. Our 12-week course includes Yoga 101 and Yoga 201.
Yoga FUNdamentals (Yoga 101) is our beginner's series class and is designed to provide an overview of the basic yoga postures, reviewing structural alignment, benefits of each postue and breath work. Classes are structured in a 6-week series and students can attend one or two classes per week. This course will serve as a great foundation for starting your home practice, and learning simple techniques to quiet the mind, improve your posture and breath better. Sun Salutation Basics (Yoga 201) is the second-part of our Beginners' series, with a focus on learning the basic standing poses and how to work with yoga props, as needed. Breath work is further refined and students will learn to practice the traditional flowing sequence of the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), which when practiced at home will serve as a complete and balanced practice.
